The new virtual reality gaming center, theatre-style cinema with a 90-inch screen for watching football and movies in style, seasonal programming and a gourmet yet kid-friendly Thanksgiving buffet make The Abbey Resort and Avani Spa the perfect place for families of all ages and sizes to gather at Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Programming

Thanksgiving activities and traditions lead the way as the official start of the holiday season at The Abbey Resort.  Guests are invited to gather together for family-centric activities such as turkey cookie decorating and making fall spice sugar scrub to nightly Turkey Trot bonfires featuring salted caramel s'mores and hot apple cider. Pumpkin mani's and pedi's and pumpkin spice body scrubs and massages are available at Avani Spa and of course, no Thanksgiving celebration is complete without a turkey dinner buffet.

Thanksgiving reservations are required for the swoon-worthy Thanksgiving buffet at the resort's award-winning 240° West restaurant featuring traditional fare such as herb roasted turkey, apple and sage stuffing and assorted house-baked pies, as well as gourmet treats such as butternut squash and white chocolate bisque, oysters in the half shell and Maple Leaf Farms breast of duck served with Door County bing cherries. The buffet, which will satisfy the pickiest toddlers and most discerning foodies alike, will be available from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, November 23. Pricing is $39.95 for adults and $15.95 for children five to 12 years old; kids under five dine compliments of The Abbey Resort. Christmas Tree Lighting

Following Thanksgiving, guests are invited to skip the shopping lines and stick around to watch The Abbey Resort transform into an enchanting winter wonderland of holiday cheer that continues into the new year! The 9th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting will be held on Saturday, November 25 inside the iconic Abbey Resort. Old St. Nick will arrive at 6 p.m. sharp to get the party started, and the icing on the Christmas cookies will be the lighting of the traditional Abbey Resort Christmas Tree at 6:45 p.m. when one good boy or girl is selected by Santa to turn on the holiday spirit by pulling the switch to illuminate the tree. The event will feature Christmas music, festive refreshments and plenty of opportunities to take pictures with Santa.
