Barry Libman Honored with HIM Advocacy Award from MaHIMA

BEDFORD, Mass. - Nov. 9, 2017 - PRLog -- MaHIMA announced the selection of Barry Libman, MS, RHIA, CDIP, CCS, as recipient of MaHIMA's HIM Advocacy Award for 2017.  The annual award recognizes individuals who advance the HIM profession with "numerous and long-term contributions."  The HIM Advocacy Award was presented to Barry at MaHIMA's annual Dot Wagg meeting on Friday, November 3, 2017.

In announcing the award, Marianne Garfi, RHIA, CCS-P, MaHIMA 2017-18 Awards chairperson described why Barry was chosen: "Over the years, Barry Libman has steadily gained experience in the health information field, specifically focusing on the clinical content and nature of documentation in the health record.  He was able to build strong relationships with payors, physicians and health care organizations.  Barry's talent for coding, skill for organization, love for detail, and dedicated vision to make a difference in the world of health care, led him to start his own coding business.  Today, his businesses not only provide professional coders to organizations needing temporary short- or long-term staffing, but also provide much needed educational and training resources to a variety of hospitals, health networks, and consultants to the healthcare industry."

Barry is the founder of Barry Libman Inc., a company that provides coding, audit, and educational services to the HIM departments of healthcare institutions, as well as Libman Education, a leading provider of training for the health care workforce. Prior to forming these organizations, he held a number of positions in the health information management field, working for hospitals, insurers, consulting firms, and regulatory bodies.
