The region is filled with club and teams ready and willing to be a part of our Promotion/Relegation movement, and Winter Haven United FC's ownership group is ready to take the next step. Operated by Tawanda Kaseke, a former collegiate player, Winter Haven United FC is the next evolution for Sisonke Simunye – "Together We Are 1" – a multi-tiered youth soccer academy founded by Kaseke and former New York Cosmos striker Lucky Mkosana. The academy is currently affiliated with Stoke City (ENG) North American Academy and BYS youth academy in Zimbabwe. Winter Haven United FC Head Coach Tawanda Kaseke said, "This team is owned by the people of Winter Haven. We are a community team supported by the amazing people and people and local businesses of Winter Haven. The UPSL is a national league that will provide our community with a national opportunity to expose local talent while competing at a high level and maintaining college eligibility for the current and aspiring college athletes, some of whom we have been fortunate to develop over the years through our youth training programs. The opportunity allows local players to play in front of their friends and family against high-level competition while providing entertainment to the amazing community of futbol fans." A native of Zimbabwe, Kaseke, 31, earned his Bachelor's Degree in International Studies from Ohio's Kenyon College before earning an MBA at Florida's Webber International University. "The passion that the UPSL has shown for the game speaks very much to what we want for the community of Winter Haven," Kaseke said. "We want to impact the next generation of players, trainers and coaches in Central Florida to continue improving the quality of soccer player in Polk County." The club will host tryouts at multiple locations beginning Monday, Dec. 4.
