The Winery at Sovereign Estate is offering a free cup of cocoa to those who donate to Second Harvest Heartland at its Solar-Powered Holiday light show event.
By: The Winery at Sovereign Esate Second Harvest Heartland is one the nation's largest, most efficient and innovative hunger relief organizations. They provide an average of 75 percent of all food distributed by its food shelf partners. In 2017, Second Harvest Heartland provided more than 81 million meals to nearly 1,000 food shelves and partner programs serving 59 counties in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. "We are excited to work with The Winery at Sovereign Estate on this charitable venture," said Amanda Pieper, Corporate Partnership Officer of Second Harvest Heartland, "For the winery at Sovereign Estate to support us and also offer a free cup of cocoa to its customers who donate a nonperishable food item or donation is a fantastic holiday treat for everyone and make no doubt about it, it will help us feed the hungry." With over 8 miles of LED lighting displayed on 10 acres of a lakeside vineyard, Sovereign Estate is Minnesota's first agri-tourism attraction powered entirely by the solar energy generated on-site. Visitors are able to stroll through the estate grounds with illuminated trees, buildings, trails and synchronized light/music shows. The Spirit of Winter features attractions for children of all ages including a synchronized light and music show, life-sized Nativity scene, cookies and cocoa, live llambas, kids play area, photos with Santa in a historic sleigh and a roaring fire with a picturesque lakeside view. Of course, there is also award-winning wine and beer for grown ups. The "Spirit of Winter" solar-powered holiday light show opened Friday November 24, 2017. Please check the web site for available dates and times for the event. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 3-12. Children under the age of 3 are admitted free.
