Samsung Joins the IoT Security Foundation Executive Steering BoardAs it encourages all to 'Build Secure, Buy Secure and Be Secure'
On his appointment, Madjid commented, "Security is a significant barrier to adoption and proliferation of IoT. While IoT innovation is being applied to integrate digital technology and economy with traditional solutions and devices, it adds new levels of complexity and risk for companies that should be addressed at an industry level." IoTSF's Chairman, Professor Paul Dorey said, "We are delighted by Samsung's recognition of the work of the Foundation and joining with other major technology leaders to progress our mission. I am personally delighted to welcome Madjid to our growing internationally- Madjid currently serves as the Senior Director of security architecture at the Samsung Strategy and Innovation Center in San Jose and has overall responsibility for roadmap, architecture, solution and execution of end to end security for the Samsung ARTIKtm IoT platform. Build Secure, Buy Secure, Be Secure The Foundation also announced that it was updating its tagline to 'Build Secure, Buy Secure and Be Secure' to signal key areas where it is aims to provide guidance. John Moor, Managing Director, IoTSF said, "Our initial work has focused on providing practical tools and advice for manufacturers of IoT class products. This recognises the key role that they play in 'building secure' and the fact that security capabilities are best provisioned at the design stage. However, building secure is not enough – good security needs to be specified, configured at the application, and its hygiene maintained over the working life of the system. Our new tagline reflects those greater needs, and sets a new expectation for our future work as we seek to extend best practice guidance to purchasers and users."
