Growing Southeastern Engineering Firm Wins Two Carolina Project AwardsThe Mitchell Water Treatment Plant Repair Project won the 2017 ACI Carolinas "Excellence in Concrete" award. SKA provided complex repair solutions for replacement of the elevated floor system with severe corrosion distress in the hypochlorite room, floor strengthening in the ferric sulfate room and a new caustic room concrete floor, amongst other building envelope and structural repairs. The project included three design firms and required tremendous coordination between the facilities managers, designers and contractor so that the plant could remain functional amidst the variety of structural, mechanical, architectural and operational repairs and upgrades. SKA was on the team that received an ICRI Carolinas Project of the Year award for Nissan Stadium Upper Deck – Concourse Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs that included waterproofing, concrete and steel repairs. A total team effort requiring meticulous scheduling and tremendous cooperation was needed to complete the project within the offseason period amidst other work and so as not to impact stadium use.
