BP Auto Spares India Talks about the Main Components of an Alternator

The main function of a vehicle's alternator is to generate electricity to recharge the battery since the standard car battery does not have the capacity to start on its own. Mentioned below are the main components of standard automobile alternator.

ALAMO, Calif. - Dec. 26, 2017 - PRLog -- An alternator is the key component of a vehicle's charging system, which delivers current to recharge the battery and generates electricity to power various electrical components when the engine is fired up. Another crucial component of your vehicle's charging system is the voltage regulator. The primary function of an alternator is to generate electricity to recharge the car battery. This is because the standard car battery is not designed to start and run a car on its own for very long. The alternator from time to time recharges the car battery when the car is being used, ensuring that your battery is fully charged up for a longer duration of time. The voltage regulator on the other hand monitors the amount of voltage being circulated through the system. The director of BP Auto Spares India, the highly-proficient and industry acclaimed Tata Telcoline Parts dealers, in this press release will talk entirely about the main components of an alternator and how they work in harmony with each other. He says," The alternator equipped inside your vehicle charging system consists of a spinning set of electrical winding which is referred to as a rotor, a static set of winding which is called stator, a rectifier assembly, multiple brushes to maintain an electrical contact with the rotor and a pulley. Apart from a pulley, all the other parts of an alternator are encased in aluminum housing."

Moving on he explains, "The entire journey of an alternator starts with an alternator rotor. An alternator rotor consists of a thin coil of wire circumnavigating the iron core. Current through the coil wire, which is known as the field current, generates a magnetic field around the iron core. It is driven by the alternator pulley which rotates as the engine runs, that is why it is referred to as the rotor."He further adds," There are few, approximately two to three in numbers, a stationary set of winding surrounding the rotor, known as a stator. The stator is strongly attached to the surface of an alternator and does not rotate. As the rotor spins within these static windings, the magnetic field generated by the rotors sweeps through the stator winding, generating an electrical current in the windings. That is because when the rotor keeps on spinning, it generates an alternate current."

Moving further he says, "Next in the queue is the rectifier assembly. An alternator's rectifier or diode assembly converts alternate current, AC, into the direct current, DC, which is the type of current used by car batteries. The diode assembly is a two-terminal system, which operates by only allowing the electrical current producing in the stator to flow in one direction. The last component we are going to talk about is the voltage regulator, which manages the current when the force of magnetic field is too strong or when the magnetic field is too weak."
