True North - The Shocking Truth of "Yours, Mine and Ours"
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Jan. 7, 2018 - PRLog -- The book begins in the 1950s on Whidbey Island, Washington, where Tom's mother, Helen North, becomes a widow when she was just 30 years old and pregnant with her eighth child. Not long after, Helen met and married Frank Beardsley, a man with ten children, and they moved to Carmel, California. The North children were adopted and their names where changed to Beardsley.

In 1968, the family was featured in the movie, "Yours, Mine and Ours", starring Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda. But it wasn't one big happy family as the movie depicted. The stepfather's violence and sexual abuse created a life of intimidation, turmoil, fear and depression for the North children. When he finally leaves home, Tom travels on a journey of self-discovery, survival and healing.

Tom's narration expresses the devastation he and his North siblings felt as young children when their father (Dick North) died, and the despair living through the years of their mother's marriage to Frank Beardsley. (Unfortunately, Beardsley was violent and a child molester. How could any child adjust from a loving, idyllic home to a version of living hell?) When the movie, "Yours, Mine and Ours" came out, adding insult to injury, the youngsters were forever living it down – they were thought to be a famous, successful, prosperous and one big happy family – it was so far from the truth.

Years later, Tom leads the family to counseling sessions where shocking truths are revealed. He then comes full circle as he reclaims his father's name and is finally, True North.

You have a compelling story to tell, one that should appeal to a wide readership not only for your family's story but for those familiar with the popular movie. You have a great blend of action and dialogue with just the right amount of narration. Your dialogue is particularly strong. You have lots of great details and description that bring the scenes and characters to life for your readers.
