ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Jan. 14, 2018 - PRLog -- Composer, pianist and vocalist, Marc Hoffman will accompany a celebration of silent films on Saturday, February 3rd at the Esmeralda Inn in Chimney Rock, NC.

Several rare films will return to the Esmeralda for a special evening — Bat Cave's Silent Movie Era. Film historian and North Carolina silent film authority Frank Thompson will present an illustrated talk, showing excerpts from three films produced at Bat Cave and Chimney Rock: Brother Bill (1913), The Masked Rider (1916) and Gilded Lies (1921). These motion pictures — all thought lost until recently — will be accompanied by Marc Hoffman.

During the silent film era, nearly 400 movies were produced in North Carolina. Films were made in Asheville, Charlotte, Wilmington, Durham and many other locations, but the hotbed of North Carolina silent movie was Bat Cave.

The total package cost per person is $45 — $20 for the presentation and a $25 credit towards dinner in the Inn's restaurant — plus room rate and tax. For those who wish to attend the presentation without staying at the Inn, the price is $20 per person. The event begins at 7:30 p.m.

Marc's original jazz and concert works have been performed live and on radio across the US and in the UK, France, Canada and The Netherlands. His latest CD, Late September is available at most online sites.

" 'Hefti' [from the CD Curioso] makes you smile with its delicate riffs and uplifting swing."

— DJ Jelly Roll Justice, WWOZ-FM, New Orleans, LA

"...listeners are likely to be delighted by Late September. — Gary Dalkin, UK music writer and editor

"...the Hollywood impressions of Marc Hoffman's "Middle Earth" made some pieces on the program seem stale and derivative.
