LUBUMBASHI, Congo, The DR of - Jan. 29, 2018 - PRLog -- DRC Mining Week, the long-running, flagship mining conference and expo in this mining hub, will return to Lubumbashi from 13-15 June as the mining operators are ready to take their operations to the next level. The event is the largest mining and industrial platform in the DRC, showcasing the vast investment opportunities in the sector.

"DRC Mining Week has been around for 12 years" says the event director Emmanuelle Nicholls, "and to stay relevant we have always made sure that we have the right balance of high-level representatives from government, industry and suppliers at our conference and expo".

She adds: "we have also made sure that we have grown with the industry and anticipated the needs of the industry as it has evolved in the DRC. This has led to an exciting, extremely practical and technologically savvy expo where the latest industry hardware and solutions are on display, where industry experts share their knowledge in free technical seminars and project developers can access the latest intelligence on projects. All in all, a mining platform for the whole industry in the hub of Lubumbashi!"

Larger expo areas
The event will feature a strategic high-level conference again that will focus on challenges and developments in the industry including finance options for mining houses, improving private and public sector relationships, the mining code, custom tariffs, training and development as well as project updates.

The in- and outside expo areas have expanded, featuring more than 160 suppliers, including country pavilions from South Africa's Department of Trade & Industry and Zimbabwe for the first time in Lubumbashi.

DRC Mining Week's evolution into a full industrial platform also continues as the agricultural zone will be extended this year with added equipment and fertiliser suppliers. There will furthermore be a dedicated power services and technology park as well as a machinery area for heavy equipment.

More than 3000 international mining experts and local stakeholders from more than 50 countries are expected to attend. Part of the practical learning at DRC Mining Week are the free technical workshops as well as an exclusive opportunity for delegates to attend the technical site visit to Africa's largest copper discovery at Kamoa-Kakula copper project operated by Ivanhoe Mines.
