By: United Premier Soccer League Dr. Streete will promote and manage the UPSL's Pro Development league structure for local teams and new Mid-Atlantic- United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "The UPSL Mid-Atlantic Conference is an important component of the league at this stage as we enter the 2018 Spring Season campaign, and we wanted to find the right individual to lead the charge, and continue to develop the market and work with the soccer community directly. Kevin fits that bill as we are pleased to bring him on board as Conference Manager to connect the many multi-cultural clubs and like-minded soccer supporters in the Mid-Atlantic region. Kevin as a former player is very passionate, and we feel very strongly that he wants to be part of the UPSL's movement. We're very proud to welcome Kevin to the league." Streete, 44, was born in Jamaica but spent his formative years playing in UK academies. He moved to the United States as a teenager, playing high school soccer and earning a scholarship to Bethany, W.V., College, where he was a three-time Academic All-American selection. United Premier Soccer League Mid-Atlantic Conference Operations Manager Kevin Streete said, "We need to do things differently in soccer in the United States, and so the UPSL coming along is a good thing. I've long discussed the opportunities for a national league that is affordable and is about soccer development and the development of players. Through an opportune phone call with UPSL Southeast Conference Manager Andy Salandy, I found the UPSL and said 'This is exactly what I've been talking about.' And since the UPSL is already doing it, it's the right time to join up (and) I'm really excited for the opportunities in Maryland, Northern Virginia and the greater Mid-Atlantic region." Streete played in England with Leeds Football Club's Pro Development team before retiring due to injury. He stayed in the United Kingdom, completed medical school and got into coaching before returning to the U.S., earning an Executive MBA for University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business and starting a family. Developing soccer players since 2011, Streete has coached and trained a number of collegiate All-Americans and is currently a coach/trainer for Maryland Rush. "The athletes are here," Streete said. "Maryland is a big state but the soccer is concentrated in Baltimore, Annapolis and Prince George County. There's like a million clubs in that area and I see the talent. The UPSL will help make it exciting for those players to keep playing soccer and see a pathway to the professional game." United Premier Soccer League The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 130 teams in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 140-plus teams targeted for 2018 Spring Season.
