The WFA Board of Directors is pleased to honor Carl Goodman for his work with the museum as they continually strive to be an integral part of the community at large. He is a visionary in the field of moving image media and under his leadership the Museum has become a premier arts institution. "As someone who frequently visits the museum with my family, I am always impressed by the new exhibits and the museum's expansion," explained Patron Curator Joseph B Mauceri. "It's more than just the building. They offer outreach and educational opportunities for seniors, families, teachers, and students. Their Game Design LAB program and Summer Media Camp programs fully immerse students into the world of entertainment technology. Carl's work with the museum continues to make it true corner stone in the local and greater New York City community." Carl Goodman Carl Goodman has worked at the Museum of the Moving Image for more than 25 years, having joined in 1989 as an educator. Since his appointment as Executive Director in 2011, Carl oversaw a three-fold increase in annual attendance, following the Museum's acclaimed expansion and renovation. Prior to 2011, Carl was the Museum's Senior Deputy Director, overseeing all public programming, education, and collections initiatives, and supervising the Museum's use and study of digital media. Over the years, he has served in a variety of capacities, including Curator of Digital Media, and as Director of New Media Projects. In these roles, he guided the production of the highly popular interactive experiences in the Museum's core exhibition Behind the Screen, oversaw the development of the Museum's innovative web projects, including The Living Room Candidate, an online exhibition about the history of presidential campaign commercials. Carl has organized many exhibitions for the Museum, including Computer Space, a history of video games; <ALT> DigitalMedia, a gallery of software-based art; and Real Virtuality, the inaugural exhibition in the expanded and renovated building. In his commitment to the arts in New York City, Carl served as Chair of the New York City Cultural Institutions Group (CIG), which represents more than 30 museums and cultural organizations housed in City-owned buildings, and is a member of the Arts Education Committee of the NYC Department of Education.
