#MeTOO & Binge Eating? DR. Brenda Wade Talks Today On Dr. Oz Show

Just two days before Valentine's Day, internationally known Bay Area psychologist and relationship expert, Dr. Brenda Wade, "Your Modern Love Doctor," will be appearing on The Dr. Oz Show today, February 12^th to talk about "binge eating" which has been linked to sexual abuse.  Additionally, the much sought after psychologist who has appeared on "Good Morning America," CBS, ABC, NBC and CNN, Dr. Wade will be jetting back to New York the following day to tape another segment for the television show.

"My segment on binge eating hits a strong chord in light of the unfolding #MeToo Movement," said Dr. Wade.  "10 million women and one million men in the United States suffer from binge eating." "Fifty-five percent of women who binge-eat are childhood sexual abuse survivors," said Dr. Wade in the interview. Unexpectedly, the guest on the show with Dr. Wade revealed that she too had been sexually abused.

"It's not what you are eating.  It's what's eating you that drives binge-eating," said Dr. Wade.  Dr. Wade's analysis has been affirmed by other research. It was Dr. Vincent Felitti of California's own Kaiser Permanente in San Diego who was among the first to realize the connection between sexual abuse and eating disorders.    His findings resulted in research with the Centers for Disease Control yielding the "Adverse Childhood Experiences Study."
