United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "The High Desert continues to develop and deliver top soccer talent in Southern California and thus we're pleased to welcome High Desert FC to the UPSL's Championship Division Western Conference. High Desert FC has grown into one of the biggest clubs in its region, and now its Board of Directors is seeking a new challenge. We wish High Desert FC luck as it prepares to kick off the Spring 2018 Season." Fidel Gonzales is the Manager of High Desert FC. A native of Southern California, Gonzales, 44, played collegiate soccer at Lynchburg (Va.)'s Liberty University. He currently is the Head Coach at Victorville (Calif.)'s Excelsior Charter School. High Desert FC Manager Fidel Gonzales said, "When we reviewed options for our competitive adult players, many returning from college and seeking the next level in their game, so the UPSL was the right move. We possess many talented players that have achieved acclaim and the high school and collegiate level. We definitively want to continue to the development of these competitive adult age groups because it delivers a level of play that our young players aspire to. It elevates the players, the club, and the great Victor Valley soccer community." Mike Zamora, Director of Coaching at High Desert FC, will serve as the team's Head Coach. High Desert FC oversees recreational and competitive youth teams, with its top players and coaches competing in the Coast Soccer League since 2008. The club's current programs serve over 900 youth and adult players. "Our job is to develop the best players in the High Desert, and as a club, we're building upon our success," said Gonzales, now in his third year with the club. "We want to continue to establish our bond with this community, and put a strong product on the field for our fans to enjoy."
