By: United Premier Soccer League Based in Fayetteville (N.C.), Bragg FC begins UPSL play in the Southeast Conference. United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "The United Premier Soccer League is proud to welcome Bragg FC to the United Premier Soccer League. The players are active service members and family members so we know Bragg FC brings a proud military tradition to the UPSL as we expect private ownership group will do a tremendous job of bridging the community and the game. We wish Owners Jose Lopez and Kyle Furfari the best of luck as Bragg FC prepares to kick off the Spring 2018 Season." Spc. Jose Lopez, 26, is Chief Operating Officer of Bragg FC. A Texas native who played three years of varsity soccer before joining the U.S. Army out of high school, Lopez was selected to be part of the All-Army Soccer Team in 2011 and has traveled the globe playing the game. He currently serves as a Logistician at Fort Bragg (N.C.). Bragg FC Chief Operating Officer Jose Lopez said, "We want to bring more competitive soccer here so we can get the community involved because it deserves something better. We want to push people out of their comfort zones because there's a lot of talent out here, and if everyone can have something local where they can be passionate about they why not provide that to the community?" Led by Lopez, the team won the 2016 Defender's Cup National Military Soccer Tournament, and advanced to the knockout round of the 2017 event. The team also plays in a local Fayetteville (N.C.) amateur league. Cpt. Kyle Furfari, 35, is Chief Executive Financial Officer of Bragg FC. A native of New Jersey, Furfari played ODP before playing collegiate soccer at Gunnison (Colo.)'s Western State University and later at York (Neb.) College. He also was selected for the All-Army Soccer Team in 2012, and currently serves as a Civil Affairs Officer at Fort Bragg (N.C.). Bragg FC Chief Executive Financial Officer Kyle Furfari said, "Why we're here is to bring those opportunities for the young athletes in this area, and the dependents of active duty and veterans here in Fayetteville and Fort Bragg and the surrounding areas, because there are a ton of talented young players ready to embrace the sport. We want to give them the chance, and the chance to maybe earn and education out of the sport or even the chance to move up and play at a higher level." The club will play its home games at New Century International School (7465 Century Circle, Fayetteville, N.C. 28306) in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards. The team soon will announce its upcoming game schedule.
