Mental Health and The Criminal Justice System

LAUDERHILL, Fla. - Feb. 16, 2018 - PRLog -- The Mental Health Association of Southeast Florida has been advocating for people with mental illness for 57 years and counting. MHASEFL offers many different programs including 9Muses Art Center; it's adult services division. Together they have helped improve the lives of thousands of adults suffering from mental illness through wellness workshops, support groups and public outreach. It is an unfortunate fact that mental illness and criminal incarceration are synonymous in some parts of our nation. This exacerbates an already critical situation. When a person is experiencing a mental health crisis, it is imperative that the individual receive proper care; safely.

9Muses Art Center is profiled in this documentary as an alternative for those experiencing mental health issues. It is a place to come and engage in a fine arts program and receive mental health support.
