Joseph Lee, III for County Trustee

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Feb. 28, 2018 - PRLog -- Memphis & Shelby County native Joseph Lee, III has announced his candidacy for the position of Shelby County Trustee. Lee has exemplified a passion to serve dating back to his nine years of honorable service in the U.S. Navy.  His accomplished education and extensive experience reflects an impressive commitment to the public. He is no stranger to government or finance and held a position similar to Shelby County Trustee for five years as the City of Memphis Treasurer. Lee's experience in many broader financial, operational and leadership capacities have adequately equipped him as well. These roles include Chief Financial Officer, Vice President/Investment Compliance Auditor, Finance Director, and President/CEO of MLGW. Lee seeks the public's support as he campaigns diligently to secure the Democratic seat during the May 1, 2018 Primary Election.

According to Lee, this is something he has been considering for quite some time. "It took several years for me to make this decision. I believe the right time is now, and I know I can have a positive impact while serving my home in the capacity of Shelby County Trustee. My solid financial background has prepared me and my passion to serve propels me. I will operate responsibly and with integrity. I am asking the citizens of Memphis & Shelby County to support me. I have experienced leadership, and look forward to visiting the various communities to discuss my plans as the campaign progresses."

GOALS / VISION as Shelby County Trustee
Joseph Lee pledges to manage and operate the Office of Shelby County Trustee within all required County and State Codes, and related Ordinances and Guidelines in order to maximize service to citizens, and maximize the collection of funds, and preserve the principal and return on said funds. Additionally, his top five key initiatives will include:

1. Conduct an operational efficiency and financial investment audit and implement key findings.
2. Expand investment business opportunities to Minority/Women Owned Businesses.
3. Seek legislation to provide increased Tax Relief for seniors.
4. Provide more accessibility to the office of the Shelby County Trustee. This includes Saturday operational hours and additional community office sites.
5. Develop a $25,000 Trustee Scholarship Fund (with private contributed funds) to provide scholarships opportunities for students who reside and attend college in Shelby County.
