Libman Education Announces Updated Hands-on Coding Course "Professional Practical Experience"

BEDFORD, Mass. - March 16, 2018 - PRLog -- Libman Education has announced a new version of its course Professional Practical Experience (PPE). The online, self-paced course goes beyond the theoretical to provide students with practical, real-world coding experience.

In PPE, students perform actual tasks as a coder, assigning diagnosis and procedure codes to various types of patient records in both the outpatient setting and inpatient setting: everything from simple doctor visits, to emergency room, to inpatient stays.​ Hands on experience entails applying codes to case studies that include (but are not limited to) Discharge Summaries, Operative Notes, and History and Physicals (H&Ps).

The course is delivered by the experienced team of Ruth Berger, MS, RHIA, and Angela Lehoux, BS, CCS, CDIP, CIC, COC, CPC-I. Berger, the course author, brings decades of accredited HIM experience to her over 10-year-long teaching role in an associate degree program. Lehoux, the instructor, is Libman Education's Director of Training and Operations and brings 25 years of experience in inpatient, outpatient and emergency room coding.

Professional Practical Experience (PPE) can be taken as an individual course or as part of the Medical Coder Career Program (MCCP) with Mentoring - Inpatient Coding.
