TAMPA, Fla. - March 26, 2018 - PRLog -- Precision Temperature Monitoring Samples in Genome Research at AKESOgen

Background

AKESOgen is an integrated genomics, genetics and biobanking company that services the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, clinical, academic, and government sectors for clinical trials, diagnostic clinical testing and research. Based in the greater Atlanta, Georgia area, the initial focus of the company is oncology and personalized medicine.

AKESOgen Research Services and Clinical/Regulatory Services provide high-throughput biomarker profiling, cytogenomic arrays, sequencing (NGS), genotyping and epigenomic analysis utilizing different types of markers (e.g. DNA, mRNA, miRNA, and methylation) to CLIA/CAP standards.

The company delivers data at the apex of quality, enhances client productivity and enables them to meet important deadlines by offering the best in customer service and a collaborative, consultative relationship.

The Monitoring Need

AKESOgen uses hybridization ovens for the amplification of genotype arrays with a very narrow variance of only 1 degree.  Over time, the customers that partnered with AKESOgen, increasingly required that their service agreements reflect a commitment to compliance with FDA  21 CFR Part 11 regulation.  They also wanted continual monitoring of their samples.

AKESOgen was manually monitoring their temperature controlled inventory, with no monitoring outside of their regular business hours.  Consequently, a need arose for an automated monitoring system to ensure a greater level of protection for their customers.

The Tutela Solution

In their search for an automated monitoring system, AKESOgen reviewed 5 systems on the market, including the Genesis 3 System from Tutela.  They began their assessment keeping in mind their specific requirements that needed to be met, one being the convenience of wireless connectivity that prevented the need to run cabling.

AKESOgen learned about Tutela at the International Biobanking Summit (ISBER) where they discussed the Tutela system with their industry peers.   They were impressed with the system features and reached out after the summit to obtain more specific information on how the system could be utilized in their laboratory environment.

The Tutela Genesis 3 System was ultimately selected for a number of factors that benefited day-to-day operations at AKESOgen:

·         A price point that met budget constraints.

·         A live call bureau for direct contact 24/7 in the event of an alarm.

·         Sensors that can be installed with a dual purpose, door alarming and temperature monitoring.

·         DQ, IQ, OQ documentation that is readily available through the customer interface any time it needs to be recalled for audit purposes.

About Tutela

The Tutela Wireless Monitoring System uses web-based technology developed from the ground up and recognizes the significant benefits to the medical sector.  Tutela uses the existing IT network infrastructure on the customer site, and couples it with wireless sensing to reduce local installation time and associated costs.

Being web-based means there is no on-site PC hardware or software for the customer to purchase or manage. Our customers appreciate the customer web interface as it is truly intuitive. It is simple to use needing minimal staff training and ensures that 21 CFR Part 11 compliant electronic records are available anywhere in the world on any device able to support a web browser. Plus, there are no licensing costs or hidden software upgrade fees.

Tutela operates a 24/7 remote alarm bureau that promptly delivers any exception alarms to end-user staff for action without misinterpretation.  The Tutela Monitoring System eliminates time consuming manual tasks that have the potential for human error and inaccuracy and delivers full compliance and rapid financial benefits.
