Mount Olive Airport Selects Open Broadband for Internet Service

WAXHAW, N.C. - March 26, 2018 - PRLog -- Open Broadband is pleased to announce activation of high-speed internet service for the Mount Olive airport. Internet service is being provided to Bass Aviation, the Vidant East-Care medical group, and visitors to the airport. Open Broadband offers high-speed, symmetrical internet service to residents and businesses with upload/download speeds ranging from 25 Mbps up to 1000 Mbps.

Bass Aviation's President, Michael Bass said "Our previous DSL service was too slow to operate effectively. We wasted a lot of time waiting for uploads and downloads. With Open Broadband we were able to get high-speed internet delivered without the huge expense of pulling in fiber optics."

Open Broadband delivers fixed-wireless internet service to the airport from a local water tower, arranged through a tower lease contract with the City of Mount Olive. Open Broadband is also building a free public Wi-Fi Zone for downtown Mount Olive, serving the outdoor areas along Center Street. The public Wi-Fi zone is designed to encourage more visitors to downtown businesses.

Mount Olive Town Manager Charles Brown said "We are delighted to have an ISP bringing in ultra-high-speed internet to our community. Affordable and accessible high-speed internet has been an issue for some time, and we now have a commercial provider that stepped up to the plate."

Open Broadband is currently taking signups for internet service in the southern portion of Wayne County NC, running along the highway 55 corridor from Seven Springs through Mount Olive to Grantham. Mount Olive customers are being turned up now, with the other towns turning up service later this spring.

"Our internet speeds are up to 100 times faster than DSL, and the symmetrical nature of our service means file uploads occur just as fast as downloads. This upload speed capability is especially important to business which rely on cloud computing. Cable and DSL are not symmetrical speeds."

Open Broadband will also be turning up internet service in Goldsboro in 2Q, including a symmetrical gigabit speed offering (1000 Mb x 1000 Mb). This gigabit offering is comparable to the speeds provided in metro area by carriers such as Google Fiber.
