Follow on Google News | New Drug Detox Center in Saranac Lake Boosted by NY State GrantsNew York State grants are boosting a new drug detox facility that will be launched this year in Saranac Lake by St. Joseph's Addiction Treatment & Recovery Centers.
By: Addiction Now A month ago, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that St. Joseph would be getting 1.2 million to launch the treatment center. It will be closely located to the Adirondack Medical Center; have a total of 10 beds, and create dozens of new jobs. St. Joseph also received a $450.000 grant this year to power the launch of an 'Open Access Center.' The center will feature addiction specialists 24 hours a day and seven days a week. At the moment, St. Joseph's outpatient and inpatient addiction treatment admissions are all essentially linked to opioids. Representatives of the organization stated that these investments will be crucial for Upstate New York, as local residents currently have to travel to Albany or Syracuse to have access to proper treatment at a drug detox center. The two recent capital grants come from the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) and will be used to purchase properties, construct the new drug detox center in Saranac Lake, and launch Open Access Centers throughout the state. St. Joseph's is still waiting to receive additional state funding through OASAS. Representatives of the organization explained they should learn about potential future investments, which would help them expand outpatient addiction treatment services, in the next couple of months. They added that the new drug detox center will hopefully be built and able to welcome patients by the end of this year and that expansions for outpatient services can be the next focus. https://www.drugaddictionnow.com/ End
