Follow on Google News | Track and Field Olympians complete successful first stop of Empowerment Camp Tour in South AfricaKicking off their 2018-2019 Camp Tour in South Africa March 3 and March 10, Two-Time Olympic Gold Medalist, Natasha Hastings, and Olympian, Mechelle Lewis Freeman used their track & field experience to empower the youth of Johannesburg and Cape Town.
By: Natasha Hastings Hastings and Freeman also teamed up with the Pretoria US Embassy and the Cape Town US Consulate to host a youth empowerment camp with students from the TuksSport High School, as well as a training and motivational experience at the Drakenstein Juvenile Prison. "Being able to share my love of sport and experiences with children across the world has been incredibly rewarding. My time in South Africa will be an experience I will forever remember," says Hastings. The Empowerment Tour picks back up in the fall with scheduled stops in the US and Dubai. "Our goal is to continue to provide a platform for direct interaction with track and field female role models while offering resources and tools for women and girls to be successful in their life pursuits, says Freeman.
