Follow on Google News | Drug Rehabs in Columbus to Receive FundsLegislators recently announced that drug rehabs in Columbus, Ohio can expect to receive a portion of the state's 2019-2020 capital budget bill.
By: Addiction Now The bill shows that a total of $2.6 billion is going to be used to address a number of different issues throughout the state. Substance abuse has been severely impacting Ohio, particularly its metropolitan areas such as Columbus. Thus, legislators have been highlighting that there's a critical need for expanded addiction treatment services in the area. The proposed budget plan reveals that $222 million would be split among the drug rehab centers, mental health treatment facilities, and clinics for developmental disability treatment. However, the capital budget bill has been receiving some criticism. Those who criticized the budget proposal brought up that state lawmakers are planning on spending too much on projects that are not necessarily as essential for the well-being of Ohioans as public health investments — such as addiction treatment expansions. The proposal introduced a community project that would allocate $5 million to the development and construction of a passageway that would be installed in the museum at the Columbus Ohio State University. Conversely, those in favor of the budget plan state that other efforts to address drug abuse are already in effect. They state that the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services would also give $15 million to facilities that provide addiction treatment services and that have been overcrowded with patients struggling with opioid addiction. https://www.drugaddictionnow.com/ End
