Active Shooter at YouTube HQ Reportedly Dead But Impact Will Be Felt Forever

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - April 3, 2018 - PRLog -- As reports continue to flow from local authorities, YouTube and the media, it is time to take a step back and take a breath. Much speculation is going to be masked as facts in the tragic events which took place today at the YouTube Headquarters. It is human nature to want answers and have them quickly. Unfortunately, these incidents are rarely easy to pin point the causes. It is also easy for people to speculate on the contributing factors and see the warning signs in hindsight. The reality is that we need to place the blame on the shooter and focus on those whom this event has impacted. We need to show respect and support to the victims.

People need to understand that all of the guessing in the world does not bring us to the facts. It only contributes to misinformation and takes away from what people actually learn from these events. The employees of Alphabet and their subsidiaries are going to suffer from many emotional scars of these events. From those closest to the physical victims feeling survivors guilt (which although most associate only when lives are lost, it can also be felt by those close to any traumatic injury to others near them), a sense of feeling unsafe in the workplace which they had always taken for granted without a second thought, increased anxiety in the workplace, uncontrolled emotional episodes, increased heart rate and fear to loud noises and people moving quickly or unexpectedly in the workplace or outside of the workplace among other issues.

The author of "Youth Violence, An International Crisis" says that although the book is more focused on violence by and against youth, much of it can also be applied to workplace violence. Now we need to show support and compassion to those impacted, allow authorities to do there job and not fall trap to the "fake news" and speculation that will show up online.
