New Day's very own Brew Master Pat Vinckier, who won the brew master experience at last fall's Hope Shines Gala auction, will debut his new brew at the event. Vinckier spent a day with Brew Master Forrest Knapp to make a "Session IPA," which is aptly named "New Day Session IPA." Sessions brews are beers with a low ABV so you can enjoy them all day without overdoing it. A portion from each pint sold at the Happy Hour for Hope will be donated to New Day Foundation. Tickets for the Happy Hour are $50 per person and can be purchased online at www.foundationforfamilies.org/ "We're excited to see many new faces from the Rochester community for happy hour. It will be a fun time for a great cause," said Gina Kell Spehn, co-founder and president of New Day Foundation for Families. "We're excited to throw a party to create awareness and raise a few dollars for our mission. Cancer patients can't beat this dreaded disease without basic human needs being met. We're here to close that gap." Over the past decade, New Day has assisted nearly 500 patients and impacted the lives of over 1,700 individuals, including more than 1,000 local children. Last year alone, New Day provided financial assistance and emotional resources to 150 families. Due to the high cost of cancer, a health crisis can throw a family into bankruptcy or homelessness in just six months. As a result, cancer related financial toxicity (CRFT) is on the rise, linking the negative financial impact of cancer costs to a decline in positive treatment outcomes for the patient. According to recent studies, "cancer patients who go bankrupt are nearly 80 percent more likely to die than patients who don't, and some cancers had significantly higher mortality rates."
