This bilingual book, in English and Japanese, of haiku and senryu, delivers a poem-a-day, from 25th of January 2020 (1.XXV) to 11th of February 2021 (384.XI) and, therefore, comprises 384 micro poems. The cycle of the lunar years begins with the Rat. It is said that those animals signify what others perceive of what we are or how we present ourselves. The agricultural calendar (or the solar months) begins with the Tiger (the first animal of spring), and these animals, assigned by month, represent our inner selves. There is a mixture of two basic scripts: Kanji (which are Chinese ideographic symbols) and kana (Hiragana and Katakana, simplified Chinese characters adopted to form a phonetic script). Besides these writing systems, for the convenience of foreigners, rōmaji is used, as a representation of Japanese sounds using Roman letters. Letters with a bar on top: ā, ū, ē and ō are long vowels and the length is double of the standard vowels. About the Author Daniela Bullas signs her works as DANIELA to simplify her change in name. She started writing poetry and prose in her teens. THE YEAR OF THE RAT is a haiku and senryu book, in English and Japanese, accompanied by stunning animal illustrations and photos of wire bonsai tree sculptures. Reader, the book is now yours! The Year of the Rat (Paperback) published by Cyberwit.net is available worldwide via Amazon USA, UK, Canada, India, Flipkart and through publisher's site. https://www.cyberwit.net/ End
