By: Addiction Now The new center, Gracie's Place, serves women who have struggled with a substance use disorder but finished receiving clinical treatment services and need continued care before returning to their daily lives. John Lloyd is the CEO and the founder of the new nonprofit and faith-based recovery center, which has been certified by the National Alliance for Recovery Residences and the Pennsylvania Alliance of Recovery Residences. He stated that he noticed the need for a local drug addiction recovery center specifically for the women after he founded a recovery center for men there in 2016, called Noah's Home. Noah's Home can have 16 resident and has a waiting list. Like Gracie's Place, it offers a structured, sober living setting for people who finished with a medical treatment program an addiction and were looking for help reintegrating into society. Lloyd explained that his own battles with substance abuse and struggles to reach sobriety made him want to help others going through similar journeys. "It took 30 years for me to submit and surrender," he said. "For others, it can take less." During those three decades, he said, he went through 24 different substance use disorder programs before managing to remain sober. So far, Gracie's Place has welcomed a total of four women in recovery but that number is expected to quickly go up. The recovery center offers transportation assistance to the women who want to attend peer support meetings with programs such as Narcotics Anonymous and/or Alcoholics Anonymous. Gracie's Place is located a few miles away from Noah's Home and it features 12 beds in addition to amenities like full kitchens and laundry rooms. Lloyd explained that the center was renovated and equipped with donations made by several local organizations. He said that he's thankful for the support and that hopes he can now help the community. "It's about giving back. So, anybody coming through here should try to have that same mindset." https://www.drugaddictionnow.com/ End
