Follow on Google News | York Addiction Treatment Benefits From New ProgramA hospital in York, Maine recently launched a drug addiction treatment center with new programs to treat people with substance use disorders.
York Hospital has opened an outpatient treatment center at the start of the month called York Recovery Center, which places the focus on medication-assisted treatment (MAT) programs to help those with a substance use disorder. It is the first substance abuse treatment program to utilize MAT in Southern York. Currently, 15 addiction treatment programs use MAT in Maine. York currently has two addiction treatment programs, according to the 2017 National Directory of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Treatment Facilities. York saw 60-drug related deaths in 2016, which stood for 16 percent of the 376 deaths in Maine, according to the Maine Health Index. This represented the second highest number of drug overdose deaths in the state — just behind Cumberland, which had 78 deaths. The doctors at the new substance abuse treatment center usually will tend to people within 48 hours of entrance and the patients are evaluated. If the counselor believes that the patient is a good fit for MAT, a doctor will see them afterward. York's outpatient addiction treatment recovery program has two main phases regarding the use of MAT to treat patients. Phase One features six to eight weeks of consecutive treatment usually happening three times a week. When they meet, they discuss addiction, family issues and wellness. The second phase involves an 18-week support group, where patients meet for 90 minutes a week. Phase two is supposed to keep the treatment going while getting the patient ready for a life of sobriety. The center has a van ready to pick patients up if they need one from home and back. https://www.drugaddictionnow.com/ End
