Follow on Google News | United Premier Soccer League Announces Atlanta Seas Jamaica FC as Expansion TeamFounded in 2000, Atlanta (Ga.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins the UPSL
By: United Premier Soccer League Based in Atlanta (Ga.), Seas Jamaica FC will begin UPSL play in the Southeast Conference Atlanta Caribbean Division, and host its home games at DeKalb Southeast Athletic Complex (5845 Hillvale Rd., Lithonia, GA 30058) in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards. United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "Atlanta has really taken off in terms of expansion for the UPSL, and we're pleased to welcome Seas Jamaica FC to the Southeast Conference. Owner David Largie has maintained a consistent product on the field over the years and the club has been among the best from the Atlanta Caribbean Soccer League. We wish Seas Jamaica FC success as it prepares to kick off this season." David Largie, Jr., is the Owner and General Manager of Seas Jamaica FC. A native of Jamaica, Largie, was an all-state soccer and track & field athlete in high school before playing two seasons of soccer at New York City Tech. A long-time youth soccer coach with more than 10 years as the Associate Head Coach of both the boys and girls soccer programs at Ellenwood (Ga.)'s Cedar Grove High School, Largie works in the hotel industry. Seas Jamaica FC Owner David Largie, Jr. said, "I'm from Jamaica myself, so I played soccer and I learned a lot about the game from being a player, a coach, a manager and an owner; and at the end of the day Seas Jamaica FC has been able to make it work. Joining the UPSL is a considerable opportunity, and I've been on board since UPSL Atlanta Caribbean Division Manager Wesley Graham approached us about the idea of it all. Wesley has been a great help to me, and is a true friend. We wouldn't be here without him, and we're looking forward to getting started in the UPSL and battling for a title." Seas Jamaica FC is a three-time champion (2008, 2014-'15) of the Atlanta Caribbean Soccer League and has finished near the top of the league table each of the last eight seasons. "We first started as a pick-up soccer group and then we formed to play a tournament in 1999 and then we went official in the Atlanta Caribbean Soccer League in 2000, and now we're one of the oldest, most-consistent teams in that league," Largie said. "We started by developing high school players but now we're looking to go both two seasons and try to help a lot of young kids transition to college." The club soon will announce its upcoming game schedule.
