The hemodialysis schedule is tentatively set for Monday - Saturday from 5am – 5pm with an expectation to adjust in the future as patient needs develop. "We are delighted to make this new facility available to the residents in Northeast Louisiana," stated Constance Thomas, DCI Area Operations Director. "We want patients to enjoy the new building with its warm and comfortable atmosphere and the patient-centric amenities." DCI is recognized by an independent government report, the United States Renal Data System, for having the lowest patient mortality and hospitalization ratios among national dialysis providers since 2003. "We have highly experienced staff who will be managing this facility. Our nurse manager, Jennifer Bell, has over 12 years of dialysis experience," The new facility offers a flat entrance for easy access to the building, a covered portico, and a bright and airy atmosphere. Each patient station has its own flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi access, and a heated dialysis chair. DCI is the nation's largest non-profit dialysis provider with more than 250 clinics in 28 states. Louisiana is home to 15 DCI clinics. Louisiana has approximately 9,886 dialysis patients (as of December 21, 2016, according to the 2016 Annual Report provided by the HSAG: ESRD Network 13 serving Louisiana). 2,340 patients started dialysis in 2016. Diabetes led to the most new starts with 1,046 new patients. High blood pressure, hypertension, was the primary cause of 851 cases of kidney failure that led to dialysis.
