By: Bekindr A psychiatrist with more than 25 years' experience practicing in Miami Beach, Florida, Eva Ritvo, MD, is the author of Bekindr - The Transformative Power of Kindness and the founder of the BekindrĀ® Global Initiative, a movement to bring more kindness in the world. She is also the co-founder of the Bold Beauty Project (BBP), a nonprofit that pairs women with disabilities with award-winning photographers to create art exhibitions to raise awareness. A regular on major media, Dr. Ritvo provides expert commentary on TV & radio and is a frequent source for journalists. She is the host of the PBS series, TechVersify and the co-author of The Beauty Prescription and The Concise Guide to Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Ritvo is the former Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center and the former Vice Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami. She's a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatry Association and a member of the American College of Psychiatrists. She serves on the board of United Community Options (formerly United Cerebral Palsy of South Florida.) In 2015, she was recognized as their National Volunteer of the Year. Dr. Ritvo received her undergraduate and medical degrees from UCLA and psychiatry residency training at Weill Cornell Medicine. In addition to her Miami Beach practice, Dr. Ritvo is on a national book tour for Bekindr - The Transformative Power of Kindness. Compiled and written by Dr. Ritvo, the book includes stories from sixty-four contributors from all walks of life who share, in their own voices, the ways they were positively impacted by the kindness of strangers. A wide range of stories were selected. Meeting with local dignitaries, schools, libraries, and bookstores while on tour, she encourages people of all ages to share kind stories and write kind messages.
