Follow on Google News | Drug Rehab Center in Jackson Relocates to Improve TreatmentPathway Healthcare, a drug and alcohol rehab center located in Jackson, Mississippi, moved to the Baptist Medical Center to improve the quality of care, on May 29.
By: Addiction Now The representatives of the treatment center stated that the recent move should be able to increase access to addiction services in addition to lowering the stigma suffered by those who have substance use disorders. Brent Boyett, the chief medical officer of Pathway Healthcare, explained that many people who have an addiction hesitate to seek treatment in traditional drug rehabs or join peer support groups. Moving to a hospital setting should also help take addiction medicine into the mainstream, said Scott Olson, Pathway Healthcare's CEO. The Mississippi State Department of Health reported last month that more access to addiction treatment is needed in Jackson but also in the rest of the state. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration also reported recently there are roughly 121,000 people in Mississippi who need to receive addiction treatment services. The problem is that there are 665 beds in a total of 39 (inpatient as well as outpatient) addiction treatment facilities that are certified by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health across the state. Naturally, those who need to get treated for a drug addiction often end up having to wait months for an open bed. The team of specialists who work at Pathway Healthcare assured the community members that they will keep working to boost access to drug addiction treatment services not only in Mississippi but also around the country. https://www.drugaddictionnow.com/ End
