Iconic Hasty-Bake Charcoal Grills Celebrates 70th Anniversary

TULSA, Okla. - June 5, 2018 - PRLog -- In 1948, Hasty-Bake Charcoal Grills was founded by entrepreneur, Grant Hastings. With years of experience in the food industry, Hastings knew there was a substantial market for quality made charcoal grills and giving American families the ultimate backyard barbecue experience. In the following years, the company ramped up its production capabilities and was soon producing the most sought-after grills in the world.

A soldier in World War II, Hastings dreamed of Tipton's, his favorite barbecue restaurant, once located in Tulsa, and vowed to design a grill that would produce ribs as good as Mr. Tipton's. Upon returning from active duty, Hastings drew up the design and then teamed up with a friend, Gus Baker, a welder, who constructed the grill. Not long after, friends requested to purchase one of their own. Hastings was a true pioneer, innovating the first covered backyard charcoal grill that is still being sold today. He is quoted in his book saying, "Hasty-Bake, I'm proud to say, helped pioneer the art of  'covered cooking,' … Without the hood, a Hasty-Bake is just another brazier."
