By: Bluestockings and Gentlemen Press HEX BREAKER, the novella that launched the series, introduces Jain Lazarus, a professional hex breaker, who joins the set of a cursed film. Mixing behind-the-scenes rhythms of shooting a film with zombies and dragons and wife-beaters, a sexy young actor, and an even sexier not-so-young detective who doesn't believe in the paranormal. The book was praised as by Fallen Angel Reviews, Long & Short Reviews, and Bitten by Books for its characters and structure. The second adventure, OLD-FASHIONED DETECTIVE WORK, follows Detective Wyatt East, the main suspect when Jain vanishes after spending a weekend with him skiing in Vermont. Thrown into a world filled with feuding shapeshifters, a cantankerous mermaid, and talented, troubled paranormal teens, Wyatt realizes just how little he knows about Jain's life before they met. Haunted by his own past, they have to figure out how to use the past the solve the present. CRAVE THE HUNT focuses primarily on Billy Root, the young actor from HEX BREAKER, as he trains in his burgeoning abilities working with unusual creatures and finding himself preternaturally restless on moonlit nights. While Jain and Wyatt track a murderer, who may well be tied to Jain's past, Billy tries to come to terms with his new path, as magic and theatre intersect in Scotland. The three books will be released a week apart in spring of 2019, digitally, with small print runs to follow at a later date. Leading up to the release, three short stories connected to the series, "The Possession of Nattie Filmore," "First Feet," and "Town Crier" will be released as free digital downloads, starting this fall. "HEX BREAKER was the first book of Devon's I read," says editor E.C. Bell. "It's the book that hooked me on her writing. Ever since we signed her, I've hoped that the rights to the Jain Lazarus series would become available and that Bluestockings and Gentlemen Press would snap them up. We're in discussions about both the single-book arcs and the series arcs to make sure each book is satisfying on its own, while feeding into the characters' growth over the life of the series." Bell is also the editor of Ellington's other books with Bluestockings and Gentlemen Press, encompassing the Coventina Circle series, the Gwen Finnegan Mysteries, and the Nautical Namaste Mysteries she writes as Ava Dunne. The publisher is in a soft launch as they build their initial list with a small band of invited authors. They release in digital format throughout the year, and, once they have their hard launch next year, will do small print runs of selected titles released twice a year..
