BY KENNETH RESTREPO The man behind the mask reveals himself at the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum, 420 Tompkins Avenue, Staten Island, NY on Sunday, July 22 at 3 PM. Kenneth Restrepo a former United States Marine Sergeant who served two tours in Iraq has channeled his artistic abilities in new directions. With his wife Valerie, the Staten Island residents not only own and operate Leathernecks Tattoo Shop in Brooklyn, but they have also embraced new endeavors as members of The Humble Heroes of NY. The Humble Heroes, a group of men and women, don Superhero Costumes and visit children that have special needs, are ill or grieving. A group of Humble Heroes recently returned from Memphis Tennessee where they visited St. Jude's Hospital. "An amazing experience for us as well as the children," said Kenneth. Initially inspired by NYC Comic-Con to create his own version of his favorite characters, Kenneth has also made costumes for music videos and short films as well. As a tattoo artist, Kenneth's work could be seen on Instagram @tattoosbykbar. On Sunday, July 22, a combination of his artwork and costumes will be unveiled. Join us at the home of Antonio Meucci and his houseguest Giuseppe Garibaldi where his art will be on display in the art gallery from July 22nd to November.
