Follow on Google News | Drug Addiction Treatment Program Assists New MothersA drug addiction treatment program has been assisting pregnant women and new mothers with substance use disorders in Southern NV.
By: Addiction Now Called Empower Mothers for Positive Outcomes with Education, Recovery and Early Development — EMPOWERED — the program was created to be a guide to the new mothers and provide support to them through the adjustments of their lives by connecting them with the resources that they may need. Medical professionals will connect the women with other facilities that can provide both outpatient and inpatient substance abuse services and mentor them while they adjust to their new lives as mothers. The EMPOWERED program has been implemented by the hospital Dignity Health St. Rose Dominican. The fact that the program is within a hospital is beneficial to EMPOWERED and to its participants. The Dignity Health St. Rose Dominican is open 24 hours and features a neurosurgery department, a birth, a trauma unit, and an oncology department There is also a phone number that allows the local women who are pregnant and battling an addiction to reach professional support, which may make them more comfortable, the representatives of the clinic stated. The specialists of the program explained that oftentimes pregnant women who have an addiction decide not to seek professional help because they fear potential legal repercussions since prenatal drug use is deemed child abuse in several parts of the country. But the specialists emphasized that the goal of the program is to assist the women and consequently their kids before involving law enforcement or child protective services. https://www.drugaddictionnow.com/ End
