United Premier Soccer League Announces Oxnard Guerreros FC as Western Conference Team

LOS ANGELES - July 20, 2018 - PRLog -- The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce Oxnard Guerreros FC as a new member starting with the 2018 Fall Season.

Based in Oxnard (Calif.), Oxnard Guerreros FC will begin UPSL Pro Premier play in the Western Conference, and will host its home matches at Del Sol Stadium (1800 Camino Del Sol, Oxnard, CA 93030). The 3,100 capacity arena is the only soccer-specific stadium in the Tri-County area, and is in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Western Conference Operations Manager said, "We are excited to see the Oxnard Guerreros enter the UPSL as they are becoming a seasoned club moving in the right direction and will add to the already great competition of our SoCal Division for the Fall Season. Oxnard is a great community with a strong soccer base of players and fans. We wish the Guerreros the best of success."

Ty Otto is Owner and CEO of Oxnard Guerrero FC. A Southern California native, Otto, 26, holds a BA in Marketing Communications from Thousand Oaks (Calif.)'s California Lutheran University. A former high school a collegiate player, Otto started the club in 2016.

Oxnard Guerreros FC Owner and CEO Ty Otto said, "We have been looking to make the transition from a Half-Year team to a Year-Round Organization; by joining the UPSL's Fall Pro Division, we are meeting that goal. We've been trying to grow at the right pace, so joining the UPSL is a really great move for us because it officially makes us a larger entity than our rivals – Ventura County Fusion. We're here to promote the talent from the 805 Community and especially the athletes in Oxnard who aren't given the attention they deserve. There is so much talent throughout this area, and giving them more than just a Spring/Summer season in the NPSL was something we thought was essential to our growth."

Oxnard Guerreros FC has participated in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) since 2017, and features a growing Youth Academy with more than 150 youth players and teams in most age groups.

Juan Florez serves as Head Coach of Oxnard Guerreros FC. A native of Colombia, Florez had a stint professionally for Millionarios Bogota before heading to the United States to pursue coaching. Over the next 35 years, Florez has coached the USL San Fernando Valley Eagles, at NCAA Division 1 CSU Northridge, the PDL San Fernando Valley Quakes and Los Angeles FC (MLS) affiliate USL club L.A. Blues SC (now Orange County Soccer Club).

Oxnard Guerreros FC Head Coach Juan Florez said, "I'm very excited for the players from the City of Oxnard to have the opportunity to be exposed in such a renowned league. For the Fans of Oxnard, there will be high-level soccer played in the city every weekend."

Lukas Antioho, 27, was recently named the club's General Manager. Antioho is a soccer coach at Westlake Village (Ca.)'s Oaks Christian High School and served the last two years as Oxnard Guerreros FC's Assistant General Manager.

The club is hosting the 2nd annual Combine Cup August 13, 14, 16 & 18. Teams and athletes may enter the tournament and compete in front of Professional Scouts representing Oxnard Guerreros FC, and MLS and USL teams. United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 200 teams in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 300-plus teams targeted for 2018 Fall Season.
