Mont-Co Toastmasters earn Distinguished. Austin earns 6th CC Award

LITCHFIELD, Ill. - July 22, 2018 - PRLog -- The Montgomery County Toastmasters met at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield on 7-5-18.  Club President Elect Kathy Brennan presented Dr. Todd W. Austin of Virden with his 6th CC or Competent Communicator award certificate, which he qualified for by completing his 10th speech project from his 6th "Basic Manual" at the June 2018 meeting.  Dr. Todd has been a member of Toastmasters International since 1994.

Then Club Coach Viola Lanum, a former Area 10 Director, installed the new slate of club officers for Toastmasters fiscal year 2018/2019 which runs from July 1 through June 30.  New club President Kathy Brennan then delivered her acceptance speech.

Brennan was also the lone prepared speaker of the meeting.  She delivered a humorous speech which was an "Interpretive Reading" project.  It was a reading from a book by actress / comedian / author Tina Fey.  Austin evaluated Kathy's speech.

Bernie Hand led the TableTopics (or Impromptu Speaking) portion of the evening.  Les Apps from Girard, one of the clubs newest members, was awarded Best TableTopics Speaker.  He'll get to keep the Best Topic Speaker traveling trophy for the next month.

President Brennan also recognized the clubs newest members who all joined in June.  3 of the 4 were in attendance: Les Apps, Tim Stout & Vi Lanum.  New member Eugena Austin was not present.  Kathy went on to announce that Montgomery County earned Distinguished Club status for TM FY 2017/2018 which ended June 30th.  She also announced that Vi Lanum, who had been helping the club out for 18 months, was officially recognized by Toastmasters International as "Club Coach" last month too.

The Mont-Co Toastmasters will next week on Thursday August 2nd, 2018 at 7 PM at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield on the Lower Level in the Cafeteria. Guests are always welcome to attend.
