openEQUELLA Innovation Continues with the Release of Version 6.6

The Apereo Foundation today announced the release of openEQUELLA 6.6, the second version of the platform since its transition to open source.
PRINCETON, N.J. - July 30, 2018 - PRLog -- openEQUELLA, a digital repository for housing teaching/learning, research, media, and library content in one platform is currently in use at a wide range of schools, universities, colleges, TAFEs, departments of education, government agencies, and corporations worldwide.

openEQUELLA 6.6 demonstrates the accelerated development that has occurred since the platform became an open source solution in late 2017.  The new version represents true user community engagement at every step, with all features being developed based on community requests.  Development activity has primarily been undertaken by third-party services provider Edalex, complemented by contributions from Unicon.

"It's exciting to see the openEQUELLA roadmap progress so quickly as an open source platform," said Ian Dolphin, Executive Director of the Apereo Foundation.  "It provides a clear example of how vibrant the openEQUELLA community continues to be, and the potential for the platform to thrive within an open source environment."

Highlights of openEQUELLA 6.6 include:
  • Reporting improvements
  • Automatic capture of additional metadata from Learning Management Systems
  • Shift of administrative functionality to the Web with enhanced user experience
  • Additional contribution wizard configuration
  • Configurable metadata-based facet searching using Google's Material Design
