Follow on Google News | The Extreme OSRS Gold Glitch ExplainedThe 2.1b OSRS gold bug, explained. The short version is an error in programming. However, it wasn't as easy to fix. Find out more in the article.
By: PlayerAuctions™, LLC They had to figure out how to rollback the game to a former state. It had never been done before, so the developers understandably worried. However, though they had significant difficulty in the attempt, they were ultimately able to do it safely. So What Was the Cause for the Bug? The game integrity update added coin pouches to the potential rewards when pickpocketing. Due to an error in programming logic, the game misinterpreted the command to convert stacks of pouches into coins. From more reasonable amounts of gold, coin pouches gave out the maximum output. Nothing of the sort happened while testing it, so they pushed through with the update. What Now? The issue had been promptly resolved, and players really only lost about 20 minutes of progress. Unfortunately, since there was a rollback, any rare items players were lucky enough to find in that time span areas good as lost. There was also a bit of issue with the save files which prevented some players from logging in. fortunately, that was easy to solve through manual fixes as the issue arises. Jagex also considered bonds obtained while the bug was active invalid. They'll punish players who exploited the bug accordingly as well. In any case, that's everything you need to know about the whole OSRS gold glitch. Everything should be running as they should by now, so there's no stopping you from enjoying the game free from such hiccups.
