His passion led him across the nation battle rapping; upon seeing firsthand how pervasive yet unique the culture was in each city, he realized that Houston was missing out on one of the purest forms of hip hop, and the battle world was missing one of the most original and influential cultures of the urban community. He knew it was time to make a positive change and fill that void. That sparked the idea for what is now one of the leaders in Southern battle rap, Houston Bar Code. The company was launched in 2013 and, with the help of partners Buretta Blaze and Davin Morris, it has grown exponentially to host numerous events across Houston in partnership with leading companies such as Ultimate Rap League, St. Arnold's Brewery and PepsiCo garnering more than 5,000 attendees as well as favorable press in the Houston Chronicle and Hip Hop Weekly Magazine. In 2018 they partnered with URL on Houston's Own Main Events, and Scotty was signed on as a featured headlining battle rapper at the popular NOME 8 championship.
