YOUR DONATION CAN HELP BREAK THE CYCLE OF POVERTY HOUSING AND BUILD LONG-TERM FINANCIAL SECURITY AND BUILD A BETTER FUTURE FOR THEMSELVES. Nissan North America • Smyrna Plant Donnie Thomas, has worked at Nissan's Smyrna, Tennessee, facility for more than three decades and after working on eight Habitat homes he understands that every hammer swung, every nail driven in makes a difference in someone's life. "Every child deserves to have a nice, clean place to live. I think every family deserves that, every child should have that," Donnie said Joesph Flowers, A body assembly technician at Nissan's Canton, Mississippi, plant for the past 13 years, Flowers' enthusiasm on the 13 Habitat for Humanity projects he has worked on has not gone unnoticed. "There's a happiness and joy that radiates from him, because he's genuinely happy to do something for someone else," said Merrill McKewen, the executive director Working Alongside President Carter Through their long time commitment to Habitat, Donnie and Joseph have each had the honor of meeting the group's most famous volunteers: Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn, who have supported Habitat since 1984. Flowers met the former president and first lady during his first-ever trip out of the country in 2012 at a Habitat build in Haiti. Thomas worked with the Carters during their annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, which built 19 homes in Memphis this year – and he was quite impressed. "It was really an experience. For a 91-year-old couple, they are go, go, go," he said. "You have to admire anyone who has that kind of passion for other people." Nissan: 12 Years of Supporting Habitat for Humanity Nissan shares its employees' passion for doing good and Habitat for Humanity's belief that every person should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live.
