Follow on Google News | Addiction Treatment Program in Batavia Offering Methadone SoonAn opioid addiction treatment program in Batavia, New York will be adding methadone to their medication-assisted treatment (MAT) program by August 13.
By: Addiction Now The Genesee/Orleans Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (GCASA) have been applying MAT since 2004 but they will now offer methadone for the first time. The GCASA has been delivering addiction treatment to patients in Western New York since 1975. The company originally delivered drug treatment for residents of Genesee County but soon started helping Orleans County. The Royal Employer Services program aims to help companies and businesses deal with negative issues in the workplace by providing services such as conflict resolution and training options. The GCASA has been supplying buprenorphine and naltrexone for years, with some patients seeing great results. However, the medications were not completely effective for all the patients in substance abuse treatment programs and another alternative was needed. Adding methadone to their addiction treatment programs will not only provide an alternative to the other forms of MAT but will also allow GCASA to expand their reach beyond Genesee and Orleans counties. The GCASA obtained their license to prescribe methadone through the New York State Office Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. Methadone has been one of the main methods of MAT in the country. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Services Administration (SAMHSA), 10 percent of drug abuse facilities used opioid treatment programs in 2015. https://www.drugaddictionnow.com/ End
