Brennan joins the Fuel Fund after serving as Senior Vice President of the YMCA in Ridgewood, NJ, where he was responsible for delivering leadership and strategy for the YMCA and its program departments. Previously he served in senior leadership positions at the Maryland Food Bank and the YMCA of Central Maryland. "I'm honored to join the Fuel Fund of Maryland, and to provide creative leadership to helping to solve the long-standing challenges of providing affordable energy solutions for our most vulnerable Marylanders. No household should have to choose between feeding their children or keeping the lights on, or taking life-saving medication and heating or cooling their home" said Brennan. "We are thrilled to have a leader like Mel join the organization. His strong commitment and drive to serve the most vulnerable in our community will help lead the Fuel Fund of Maryland into our next chapter," said Jody Costa, Board Chair, Fuel Fund of Maryland. "The Board of Directors and Staff are looking forward to our future with Mel, and welcome his leadership, creativity, and passion to help us grow our programs and become an industry leader for fuel funds nationwide," ABOUT THE FUEL FUND OF MARYLAND As a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Fuel Fund of Maryland, Inc. provides year-round home energy assistance and energy saving education to households in Central Maryland. The target population is families and individuals who live at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. In the past 12 months, the FFM assisted nearly 7,300 households, serving more than 27,000 individuals, including 1,200 seniors and more than 8,000 children. The Fuel Fund has a 4 star rating from Charity Navigator and garners recognition year after year by receiving the Seal of Excellence for its adherence to the highest standards of ethics and accountability under the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations' Standards for Excellence code.
