Tickets on sale for Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center performances 2018 The Diamond Girl: Oct. 22 2019 Agent of Change: Jan. 14 The Quintessence of Joy: Feb. 11 Farce and Away: March 4 BOCA RATON, Florida, Aug. 3, 2018 – Lynn University and Jan McArt, producer and director of theatre arts program development, today announced the upcoming series of Jan McArt's New Play Readings. Under the leadership and guidance of McArt, this program develops new plays by highly acclaimed playwrights through staged readings. Tony Finstrom is associate producer and Wayne Rudisill is resident director of this four-part series. Readings will be held October through March at the university's Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center. Series subscriptions are $36, and individual show tickets are $10. Oct. 22 The Diamond Girl Written by Tony Finstrom Monday: 7:30 p.m. A young playwright works to finish a play based on Anthony Trollope's 1872 novel The Eustace Diamonds before she dies. Flashing back and forth from present New York to Victorian England, it's part detective story, part comic romance, part tragedy. Location: Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center Tickets: $10 Jan. 14 Agent of Change Written by Greg Burdick Monday: 7:30 p.m. Retired Vietnam pilot Maj. Thomas Gardner is about to give up all hope and faith in the country he loves and swore to defend when he discovers something startling about the woman treating him, causing him to rethink what can be truly beautiful. Location: Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center Tickets: $10 Feb. 11 The Quintessence of Joy Written by Stuart Meltzer Monday: 7:30 p.m. In this comedy immersed in the world of jazz music, adults in the throes of their own midlife crises stand face-to-face with life's tempting tricks that pose obstacle after obstacle against their "happily ever afters." Location: Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center Tickets: $10 March 4 Farce and Away Written by Michael McKeever Monday: 7:30 p.m. A modern take on an old-fashioned romantic farce: Andy is married to Elsa but having an affair with Suzanne, who is sneaking around with Bernard, who may or may not be seeing Max, who is having an affair with Elsa. A runaway text brings them all to a secluded cabin in New York.
