New Substance Abuse Outpatient Program Serves Community

A new intensive outpatient program has been opened by a local healthcare provider.

WACO, Texas - Aug. 15, 2018 - PRLog -- Arbor Behavioral Healthcare recently opened a new intensive outpatient program (IOP) for substance abuse.

The program adheres to the same content as Arbor's IOP in Austin. It is designed to help patients completing an inpatient program or those needing more addiction recovery support. Over the course of eight weeks, clinicians treat patients holistically. In addition to 12-step meetings, classes may focus on spiritual wellness, life skills, anger management and therapy.

The IOP is centered on family support. Sessions may focus on building boundaries, expressing emotions and improving relationships. Arbor offers aftercare services for those who complete the program.

According to a University of Texas at Austin report, the state saw an increased rate of admittance into substance abuse programs between 2012 and 2016, especially for methamphetamine use.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse reported that nearly 1,400 fatal opioid-related overdoses occurred in Texas during 2016.
