Follow on Google News | Kent State Accounting Department to Host Tax Update Workshop for Small Business OwnersBy: Kent State College of Business Administration The workshop will begin with breakfast and registration at 7:15 am. The program will start at 7:55 a.m. and will end at noon. The workshop, an outreach activity of the Accounting Department, is sponsored by Bober Markey and Fedorovich; CBIZ; and Bodine Perry. It is designed to help the small business owner navigate and plan for the effects from the 2017 tax reform. Workshop speakers are tax experts and will cover some of the most vital topics of 2017 tax reform as they relate to the small business owner, including choice of business entity, new Section 199A deduction for qualified business income, and changes to business deductions, exclusions, and credits. "This workshop is timed so that the business owner has still has time to do year-end tax planning in view of the 2017 tax reform," said Wendy Tietz, Ph.D., professor of accounting at Kent State's College of Business Administration. "The speakers for this workshop are dynamic and possess a great deal of tax knowledge. We are excited to offer this workshop and help small business owners navigate these topics." The workshop qualifies for 4.3 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit for CPAs in Ohio. The registration fee is $50 per attendee.
