HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Sept. 4, 2018 - PRLog -- "Aces" is an epic story of American pilots in the Battle of Britain from author Michael January.

"Few stories delve into this world from the perspective of both sides," says author January. "This period, especially in Hitler's Germany, is relevant today as a time when a charismatic leader promising to make their country great again led a people down a dark road they never intended. It is about the choices we make and the consequences, while also a rousing war adventure of daredevil pilots, aerial dogfights, friendship, glory and tragic fates on either side of one coin."

"Aces" is an epic romance adventure set in the early war years. Beginning in 1935, two competitive college friends at Princeton, an American, the half-Jewish son of a Polish immigrant who built a fortune in the New York building boom of the twenties, and a German, the titled scion of a Ruhr Valley industrial dynasty, who fly in the Thomson Trophy air races, are both in love with the same girl. Pressured by her parents, she marries the German. As they become enemies on opposite sides in the war torn skies, she finds herself the wife of a national war hero in Nazi Germany, seeing the rising injustice around her and drawn into secretly operating a forged document network under suspicion of the Gestapo.

The novel has gained high marks and reviews as "thrilling, vivid, action-packed, and unforgettable".

Kirkus Reviews hails it as a propulsive war tale, thrillingly portrayed… "January vividly captures the fast-paced terror of combat in the air, and the peculiar mixture of precision and bravado displayed by the best pilots."

Publishers Weekly's the Book Life Prize concurs: "Vivid… Suspenseful… Memorable... The book's love triangle will engage readers…"

Brooks Wachtel, Creator of History Channel's Dogfights' says: "Aces is an aviation-fueled rip-roaring read…filled with romance, suspense, wonder and danger…perilous but well worth the flight."

The Online Book Club calls it: "An astonishing journey of college friends turned to enemies fighting on opposite sides. The author weaves themes of friendship, romance, love, war, and loyalty into a perfect story made more intriguing by numerous twists and turns."

Readers Favorite awards Aces 5 Stars!
