China removes work visa requirement for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan nationals

HONG KONG - Aug. 31, 2018 - PRLog -- Mainland China's work permit system is similar to those of most other countries. The application requires a company to support the application and prove that the Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan residents they want to employ are qualified, have special skill or knowledge and that the position cannot be readily occupied or filled by the local workforce.

Once implemented, the changes would mean that Mainland companies would no longer need to submit a visa application and Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan jobseekers in the Mainland enjoy greater flexibility and movement, in their careers as well as locations.

This move, together with a timely announcement that Hong Kong nationals residing in China for more than 6 months are entitled to a resident Mainland Identity Card which grants access to Hong Kongers to China's social security, greatly improves the benefits under the one country-two systems arrangement for Hong Kongers working in the Mainland.
