Zachary Levi, Ian Somerhalder Join Wizard World Austin Celebrity Roster This Month

AUSTIN, Texas - Sept. 7, 2018 - PRLog -- Zachary Levi, who played the title role in the comedy-action series "Chuck" and will star in the upcoming feature film Shazam!,and Ian Somerhalder, star of the CW drama "Vampire Diaries" and key member of the ensemble cast of the ABC hit "Lost," will appear at Wizard World Austin at the Austin Convention Center. Levi will be attending his first Wizard World show on Saturday and Sunday, September 22-23. A huge hit at numerous previous Wizard World shows, Somerhalder will attend on Saturday, September 22. They will both greet fans, sign autographs, pose for photo ops and conduct interactive Q&A sessions during Wizard World's ninth event in Austin.

Somerhalder starred for eight seasons in "The Vampire Diaries" as Damon Salvatore, the elder and far more dangerous of the two brothers who share a long and bitter history. For his portrayal of Damon, Somerhalder has received multiple Teen Choice Awards, including four consecutive wins for "Choice TV Actor Fantasy/Sci-Fi." The show completed its run in 2017.

Somerhalder is well known for his role as Boone on J.J. Abrams' critically acclaimed drama "Lost." He won the 2005 SAG Award as part of "Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series" and "Lost" won the 2005 Emmy Award for "Best Television Series - Drama." The show was also nominated for the 2004 Golden Globe Award and the 2004 People's Choice Award. Somerhalder returned to "Lost" for several episodes during its final season.

Levi recently wrapped production as the title character in David F. Sandberg's highly anticipated tent pole, Shazam! for Warner Brothers. The teaser trailer for the film made a colossal first impression this year, introducing Levi as the new superhero of the DC Universe. The footage was a huge hit with press and fans alike. He previously starred in "Chuck," which ran for five seasons on NBC.

Additional previous film credits include: Thor: The Dark World; Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel; and Tangled. The song "I See the Light," written for Tangled(performed by Zac & Mandy Moore) was nominated that year for an Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Original Song. The pair performed the duet at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards ceremony. "I See the Light" also won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 54th Grammy Awards.

Levi and Somerhalder join "Doctor Who" stars David Tennant, Peter Capaldi, and Pearl Mackie, as well as  Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite, Blades of Glory), Holly Marie Combs ("Charmed," "Picket Fences"), Charisma Carpenter ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel"),  Brian Krause ("Charmed"), Kevin Sorbo ("Hercules," "Andromeda"), Neil McDonough ("Legends of Tomorrow," "Arrow") and Thomas Ian Nicholas (Rookie of the Year, American Pie)atop the roster of celebrity guests scheduled to attend the comic convention and pop culture extravaganza.

The 12th event scheduled on the 2018 Wizard World calendar, Austin show hours are Friday, September 21, 4-9 p.m.; Saturday, September 22, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday, September 23, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Kids 10 and under are admitted free with paid adult.

Wizard World Austin is also the place for cosplay, with fans young and old showing off their best costumes throughout the event. Fans dressed as every imaginable character – and some never before dreamed – will roam the convention floor and participate in the famed Wizard World Costume Contest on Saturday evening.
